Welcome! Before I list all of my credentials and tell you about my clinical experiences, I figure that you would first want to know who I am as a therapist and what it’s like to work with me. Getting the right fit is incredibly important in therapy and I want to make sure that you feel really confident and secure knowing that we would work well together.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in practice for over 10 years. I am a “down-to-earth”, laid-back therapist who is ready to dive right into the thick of it with you. But not before you’re ready! I want to meet you where you are and go at your own pace. My therapy approach is eclectic and I tailor my approach to each and every client, drawing strategies and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Whether it’s an eating disorder, transition to motherhood, your job, or your intimate relationships, I have seen what the effects of anxiety and depression can do to a person’s sense of self, their relationships, and how they feel about their life. You are NOT your anxiety or depression. You are NOT your symptoms. This is happening TO you, but this is NOT who you are. And you are NOT alone.
There are no quick fixes and I can’t tell you what the “right” decisions or choices are for you, but, what I can do, is guide and support you to make the internal and external changes needed to be able you to feel “good enough,” worthy, confident, and to no longer feel controlled by your own thoughts and feelings. I want to help you feel in control of yourself and your life so that you can focus all of your energy on what truly matters to you.
And now for some resume-type stuff:
I graduated in 2009 from Boston College with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. I spent the next 4 years working in and around Boston providing in-home therapy, working at a partial hospital program, and working at a secure treatment facility for teen girls. I moved back to New Jersey (my home state) in 2013 and have been working in a private practice setting treating a variety of populations and issues. My main areas of focus are eating disorders and postpartum mental health issues.
I believe that therapy heals and I believe that I can help you with that healing. If you think we might be a good fit, please call or email me to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation so we can get you started on your journey to feeling better and living your best life.
