Eating Disorders
Eating disorders suck. Plain and simple. They have a tendency to hijack our brain and insert themselves into all areas of our life: friends, relationships, family, school, work, and, most importantly ourselves. The reasons why we develop eating disorders are as varied as the people who have them. Often times they develop from experiencing intense trauma or dysfunctional family relationships. Society and cultural messages tell us we are never skinny or good looking enough.
Sometimes they seem to develop out of nowhere; one minute we are taking steps to eating and working out in a healthy way and the next we are restricting, binge-eating, over-exercising, etc; having no idea how we got there. Our emotions are intense and feel uncontrollable and we struggle in finding other ways to cope.
This is where therapy comes in. I am here to help you gain insight into the reasons why your eating disorder exists and how you can recover. This is no easy task and the road to recovery is rarely simple or smooth. This is part of the process. I believe that a full recovery from your eating disorder is possible and I believe I can help you get there. Ready to get started? Please contact me to get started.
