Individual Counseling

When people talk about going to therapy or counseling they typically mean individual counseling. Sometimes called psychotherapy, talk therapy, or just plain therapy;  individual counseling is me meeting with you, typically once a week for 55 minutes.

Ages: I work with Teens (15 and up) through Adulthood.

Issues: My passion is working with those with Eating Disorders and Postpartum/Maternal Mental Health. That being said, I am open to, and have experience in, a variety of other issues including: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, career/work/school-related issues, life transitions, anger, and self-esteem.

Treatment Strategies:  I use a variety of strategies to help guide you through the therapy process including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). It’s okay if you have never heard of these acronyms or strategies before. Part of therapy is psychoeducation in which I teach you or give you information about not only your symptoms, but also the ways in which you can manage these symptoms using different strategies and techniques.

****Therapy has the potential to benefit anyone. There is no “criteria” for needing therapy. If you think individual counseling might be helpful for you, please contact me for a free 15 min phone consultation. Even if you aren’t sure I can help, please reach out and we can discuss what you are looking for and if I am a good fit for you.
